AIB is a financial services group operating predominantly in the Republic of Ireland and the UK. They provide a wide range of services to personal, business and corporate customers in our target markets and have leading market shares in banking products in the Republic of Ireland. AIB’s business has been restructured in recent years with the aim of becoming a customer focused, profitable and lower risk institution, well positioned to support economic recovery in Ireland while seeking to generate sustainable shareholder returns.
AIB selected Accreate as their partner to run an executive search campaign to identify and appoint a Chief Information Officer (CIO), Group Technology Services for AIB. We worked with AIB on this crucial hire to assist in the realisation of their overall objective to become a technology-led bank. Reporting to the Group Chief Operating Officer, the CIO is a member of the Business and Customer Services (BCS) Senior Management Team.
Accreate were looking for a stand-out Technology leader. We wanted to identify a panel of options for the client which delivered the ability to excel in complex technology landscapes and bridge the gap between legacy systems and the technology of the future. We needed experience in large scale indigenous technologies as well as broad and deep experience in technology vendor selection and management. First and foremost, leadership qualities were required to help the organisation transition to a technology and consumer led organization.
While we focused first on Ireland we needed a broader selection of large scale systems experience so to this end we extended the search to overseas, looking first to the UK financial services market as well as other industries and companies who had demonstrated the ability to transition from legacy to new. The successful candidate was not only an exceptional technology leader but adept at demonstrating and delivering the value of technology excellence to the organization.
