WaterWipes was born out of Irish Breeze from the CEO’s unique insight; parents want a chemical free alternative to baby wipes. After years of R&D, WaterWipes, the world’s only chemical free baby wipe was launched, first in Ireland through local pharmacies and then gradually making inroads into the multiple retailers.

The Assignment

Sales had started globally, notably in North America and they were also making inroads into Asia. Having grown the business with huge success to a revenue of €35m in 2016, they recognised that they required a different type of senior leadership to take their organisation to their ambitious goal: to hit a revenue of €500m by 2020. Acccreate was delighted to be part of this exciting senior leadership team development.

Our Solution

Chief Operating Officer: Based on the nature of this remit we wanted somebody Ireland based, preferably within commuting distance to their manufacturing site. We also wanted global manufacturing expertise. The solution lay in an individual who offered both, having worked in manufacturing operations in the Food industry in Ireland, the UK, Germany and the Netherlands. Our successful candidate joined the business in Q4 2016 and has already delivered significant efficiencies and improvements.

Chief Commercial Officer: The remit for this search was simple. Find somebody who can deliver the numbers. A candidate with global expertise in building and driving a global commercial function with a focus on sales as well as marketing. Someone who understands the nuances of the baby category in a global context. WaterWipes were very excited when they first met the successful candidate. Not only did he meet the requirement as outlined but from a cultural fit to the business, he was spot on. The successful candidate started with the business in Q1 2017 and is settling in well, based in his native Belgium, travelling globally to their core sales regions EMEA, North America and Asia.

VP Global Marketing: We worked with the newly appointed CCO on this role. While the CCO role focussed strongly on sales, they also have the remit for marketing in a brand driven B2C and B2B2C environment. We delivered an exceptional candidate who has experience in abundance of making brands work hard in the FMCG space globally. The candidate had the added advantage for the business in having a very strong background in innovation.
